Since 1989, St. Francis Career College (SFCC) has provided innovative educational programs for youth and adults in our community. In the past year, the College has placed 100% of its graduates into secured and unsubsidized employment. Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and Advanced Healthcare Technician diploma programs; Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aid and Office Occupations certification programs are offered.
The Career Development Program and NASEAU Reading Program are also offered. In addition, SFCC has established an LVN-RN degree program, a wide array of professional courses and the Community Education Initiative. Students enrolled in SFCC face significant academic, psychological, social and economic obstacles to becoming self-sufficient and productive members of our community. SFCC's challenging academic environment is enhanced by comprehensive support services designed to ensure each student's success. The College assists students in achieving their professional and personal goals, and ensures that they are prepared to perform quality service in a highly competitive job market.
The 12-month LVN-RN degree program, operated in collaboration with the East Los Angeles Community College prepares experienced LVN's to move into critically needed RN positions. The 52-week Licensed Vocational Nurse diploma program includes 576 hours of theory and 956 hours of clinical study. After completing 150 hours of course work, students are qualified for certification as nurse assistants. Upon graduation, students take the National Licensing Examination for Vocational Nurses.
The multifaceted Advanced Healthcare Technician diploma program includes certification for Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide, Medical Assistant, Ward Clerk, Phlebotomy, and Electrocardiogram Technician. The 50-week course includes 816 hours of theory, and 256 hours of clinical training. The Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant and the Career Development Programs prepare young adults for entry-level healthcare careers.
SFCC provides comprehensive support service including counseling, remediation, crisis intervention, emergency housing, food, clothing, transportation, childcare assistance and spiritual support to ensure each student's success.
