St. Francis Medical Center is pleased to welcome 47 new nursing professionals to its healthcare team. They are among the 75 nurses comprising the first RN New Graduate Cohort of Prime Healthcare’s Nurse Residency Program, which places the best and brightest new nurses at leading facilities like St. Francis and its other member hospitals.

The RN new graduates recently completed their orientation. The two-day session was coordinated at West Coast University-Center for Graduate Studies in North Hollywood and was a collaboration of three Prime Healthcare facilities, including St. Francis Medical Center, Centinela Hospital Medical Center and Sherman Oaks Hospital.

Excited to be on our team, these RNs are now starting their preceptorships in their chosen areas and are one step closer to living their calling and caring for patients on our Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Surgery units, as well as in our Emergency Department.

Ryan A., RN, Telemetry/Medical Surgical, said, “It’s challenging in the best way possible. I learn something every day. The team is really friendly and helpful. They make each day do-able.”

Teresa Z., RN, Telemetry, added, “I really like being able to help the community, especially those with critical healthcare needs. I feel our work makes a difference.”

St. Francis Chief Nursing Officer Katherine Doll, BSN, MBA, CENP, extends her thanks to Prime Healthcare for making this program possible, as well as to Kristin Christophersen, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, CPHQ, CLSSGB, FACHE, Region I Chief Nursing Officer for Prime Healthcare, and interim CEO for St. Francis. She also acknowledges Prime Healthcare’s regional education team and the leadership and staff at St. Francis for their key role in coordinating the onboarding and orientation of this gifted group of new nurses.

She also highlighted how the RN New Grad program is a win-win program all around, stating, “The hospital benefits from a pipeline of talented new nurses while the new RN graduates receive invaluable on-the-job training and guidance from our highly skilled, tenured RNs. In addition, the units enjoy the synergy that is sparked when passionate caregivers representing all ages and diverse backgrounds join together with the common goal of delivering the very best care.”

As these highly motivated, young clinicians join our dedicated, seasoned team, we are inspired by their shared commitment to serving the community and look forward to them being our nursing leaders of tomorrow.
