St. Francis Medical Center is pleased to announce its new Obstetrical Emergency Department (OB-ED) in our Family Life Center. If you are at least 20 weeks pregnant and feel you may have an OB emergency, please come directly to our Family Life Center. Our friendly staff will check you into our OB-ED, where you will be cared for by our highly skilled team of OB-ED physician and nurse specialists.

Highly Skilled Team

Our OB-ED is equipped with nine triage beds where board-certified obstetricians and certified labor and delivery nurses specially trained in treating high-risk pregnancies will provide evaluations, assessments, and medical screening exams for pregnant women who are in need of immediate care. Our OB-ED will help to ensure that expectant mothers receive timely, specialized care by providers experienced in managing obstetrical emergencies.

St. Francis Medical Center is well known for the comprehensive services and dedicated care we offer to maternity patients. This encompasses an experienced team of obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and specialty-trained nurses; a high-risk pregnancy program; a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU); and a partnership with nationally recognized CHOC/UCI Health that provides neonatologists, nurses, and respiratory and occupational therapists to meet the unique needs of premature infants and newborns requiring specialized care. Our OB-ED is another important service available to support expectant mothers in our community.

Here for You if Health Concerns Cause Complications

Our OB-ED not only provides emergency care access to maternity patients in our community, but also offers added reassurance for expectant mothers who may be coping with chronic health concerns. We understand that health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, or hypertension can lead to complications and premature births. Our OB-ED responds to these healthcare concerns and gives you access to emergency OB treatment in a setting that is dedicated to your special obstetrical needs.
